  • Lesson 1: Priests: Who Are They? What Do They Do?

You will begin this week by reading an article by Dr. Levi PQuir,Executive Minister of Davao City Alliance Gospel Church. In “21st Century Theology of a Transformational Ministry as Rooted in the Biblical Priesthood of  Believers,” PQuir says, “In the modern Era, the use of the titles such as ‘Reverend’ or ‘Clergy’ and like terms are still common. . . . Continued adherence to such traditional titles to some extent inhibits believers from affirming their status as priests.”

A 12-minute video, “A Brief History of Priesthood,” traces the biblical account of priesthood, starting with Melchizedek, the first priests mentioned in Scripture. The video quotes Greg Ogden (The New Reformation) as saying, ““The believers’ priesthood is one which the Reformers clearly envisioned, but which we have yet to appropriate fully.”
